Obviously, the first place to visit in Jaisalmer is the Jaisalmer Fort, also known as Sonar Quila.

Why?

Sonar Quila means Golden Fort because the fort is made up of yellow sand and when the sunrays fall upon the fort, it glitters golden color that is the reason behind its name.

Once you enter the fort, you will be awestruck, watching people reading newspapers, washing their clothes, doing their daily chores. It feels like you are playing a role in a movie and no one bothers about your presence around them and the fact that they are living in a fort.

3. Patwaon Ki Haveli:

Patwaon ki Haveli is an architectural gem right in the narrow lane of the golden city that attracts a lot of crowds which can be seen admiring the masterpiece.

It is the first ever Haveli made in Jaisalmer, which in actual is a cluster of 5 small haveli’s that took almost 50 years to complete.  Crazy!!! Right…

The rooftop is given a structure similar to Peacock that is surely something hard to find anywhere in the world.

6. Sam Sand Dunes

Yet, another place that provides the same facilities as Khuri Village, but Sam Sand Dunes have been there for a long time and remains quite crowdy. You must have heard about them.

7. Kuldhara

A place that was abandoned by thousands of people within a single night leaving only the ruins of houses behind and was cursed that noone will ever be able to live in and around that area which has happened to be so true.

Whether it is haunted or not, but watching the ruins here is surely going to give you the idea of the horrifying event that might have taken place here.

8. Tanot Mata Temple

Located around 150 Km from the main city of Jaisalmer, this temple will take you face to face with the divine force.

9. Thar Museum

Let me tell you the interesting story behind it, this mueseum is actually runned by a single man, Laxmi Narayan Khatri, who followed his passion of preserving ancient folk arts of Desert since his teen age.

With the help of which he then was able to open a small mueseum showcasing his preserved historical artifacts to people coming to Jaisalmer.

It is a very small and compact place but you will truly love the vibe here.

10.  Bada Bagh

Bada Bagh lies almost 6-7 Kms from Jaisalmer city, which you can reach either by a Cab or hire a Motorbike, is one of the calmest places to visit in Jaisalmer

As the famous saying goes by “Your First Impression is your last impression”, you are going to feel this here. From the entrance gate whilst walking towards it, you will see the Golden Cenotaphs rising from the Golden sand soon finding a place in your heart.
